NBS 101 for Journalists Design Guide will help Nature based Solution advocates and practitioners develop programs that spread the word and help uptake of NBS. The focus is on creating a local language program for journalists and communicators. When journalists understand and communicate the attractiveness of environmental solutions that optimize nature and people simultaneously and minimize negative impacts, NBS will become the methodology of choice, enhancing community resilience.
Based on the “humanize, localize and solutionize” (HLS) methodology, the Guide explains how to co-create the program by establishing a two-way dialogue between NBS practitioners and journalists; how to select the key local issues; how to develop a common vocabulary for relevant NBS key concepts in the local language and how to educate communicators so they can create compelling stories that popularize NBS as an important sustainable development strategy.
The Guide was created for Project “NBS EduWORLD” funded by the Horizon Europe Framework Programme of the European Union with Grant Agreement No. 101060525
